1. Choose Your Outfit Wisely

Your outfit plays a big role in how your photos will look and feel. If you’re unsure what to wear, I offer an optional add-on service with a professional stylist who can curate outfit recommendations tailored specifically for you. You’ll receive direct links to handpicked outfits that you can easily order online to ensure you look and feel your best for the shoot. In case you are taking care of your outfits on your own, here’s what to keep in mind:

  • Make sure your outfits are clean and wrinkle-free. Iron or steam them beforehand to avoid any distracting creases in your photos.
  • Layering is a great way to add versatility to your look. Jackets, cardigans, or scarves can help you create different styles within the same shoot, giving your photos more variety.
  • Pick something you feel confident and comfortable in.
  • Avoid overly bright colors and busy patterns that might be distracting.
  • Neutrals, earth tones, and soft colors tend to photograph beautifully.
  • If you’re booking a couples or group session, try coordinating outfits rather than matching exactly.

You can always send me photos of your outfit options before the shoot if you need help deciding what to pick.

2. Prioritize Self-Care

If you’re looking for a professional makeup artist to elevate your look, I have a trusted MUA and hairstylist on my team who can help create a polished, camera-ready finish for your session. Let me know if you’d like to add this service! You want to feel your best on the day of your shoot, so take a little extra care ahead of time:

  • Get a haircut or trim a few days before (not the night before tho! :).
  • Hydrate your skin and get plenty of rest
  • If you wear makeup, consider a natural look that enhances your features.
  • Bring lip balm, a hair brush, oil blotting sheets, or a small touch-up kit.

3. Choosing the Right Location

I usually suggest locations based on the vibe you’re going for, but we’ll discuss it together to make sure it aligns with your vision. During our consultation, we’ll go over your preferences, whether you want an urban, natural, or indoor setting.

4. Bring Props or Personal Elements

Adding a personal touch can make your photos more meaningful. Bring along:

  • A hat, scarf, or jacket that complements your look.
  • A book, bouquet, or something sentimental that reflects your personality.
  • For couples or engagement shoots, a small keepsake or meaningful item can add extra charm.

5. Relax & Trust the Process

Feeling nervous? Thats totally normal! But remember:

  • You don’t have to be a model—just be yourself!
  • I’ll guide you through poses and make sure you feel comfortable.
  • Movement-based prompts often create the most natural and candid shots.
  • The best photos happen when you’re having fun, so enjoy the experience!

6. Communication is Key

If there’s something specific you want, don’t hesitate to let me know! Before the shoot:

  • Share any inspiration or Pinterest boards you love.
  • Let me know if you have a preferred side or angles you like best.
  • If you have any concerns, I’m here to help and make sure you feel great.
